The Game of AFL Masters (AFLM) provides the opportunity for players 35 years and over to enjoy the game of Aussie Rules Football in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

Commencing in 1980 the sport is governed by AFL Masters (formerly MAF / Superules Australia Inc.) and has nine member state associations, including S.A. that supports over 300 teams throughout Australia. AFL Masters has a national standardised set of modified rules designed to reduce the risks of injury and has the benefit of being acknowledged and affiliated with the AFL and the Australian Sports Commission.

The big event of the year for AFL Masters is the National Carnival which is played annually, rotating between various venues around the country. The event attracts 40+ teams giving participants the opportunity to represent their state across age groups: 35’s, 40’s, 45’s, 50’s, 55’s and over 60’s. It is the largest Australian Rules National Carnival played of any age and is open to all registered players within their state competition.

The carnival is held around early October and is a great environment for players, families, supporters and officials to enjoy magnificent locations, accommodation and social events spread out over 10 days. Each team plays 3 games over the week culminating in a gala presentation night.
